A polishing pad cannot be attached directly to a polisher due to the nature of the polishing pad, which is soft without enclosure while working with painted surfaces. The backing plate needs to transfer the circular or dual-polishing action to the polishing pad while absorbing heat and pressure from the polisher, polishing pad, and polishing action on the painted surface. The backing plate for DA high-speed polishers consists of the main body, polisher interface thread with a bolt, reinforced steel struts, vented holes, and hook and loop fastener, a typical configuration of high-speed DA Polishers. Some variations of the plate configuration exist to meet specific polisher requirements. The characteristics of the DA Backing Plates

  • Material construction: Most MaxShine polishing backing plates are made of Polyurethane, known to be heat resistant, elastic, and absorb vibration.
